![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The screen goddess earned her Bachelor of Arts in Drama from the University of Southern California. Denise Nicholas was born on Jin Detroit, Michigan. At the age of 16, she made the cover of Jet magazine as a future teacher at North Western University’s National High School Institute. She graduated from high school in Milan in 1961.ĭenise Nicholas enrolled at Michigan University as a law student. Moving on, while studying at Michigan, she changed her major to Latin American politics, English, and Spanish. Afterwards, she then left the University of Michigan to go to Tulane University, where she focused on fine arts. Apparently, Denise Nicholas made her debut in a Spanish-language play presented by her language class. She left college in time to join the Free Southern Theater (FST), during the period of the civil rights movement.įinally, after exhausting a few years touring the Deep South with the FST, Nicholas embarked on a trip to New York and became one of the members of the Negro Ensemble Company, performing throughout Louisiana and Mississippi. Nicholas was created to play the role of Liz McIntyre, a guidance counselor on the popular ABC series Room 222. ![]()
